Tucked at the back of the Great Glen Hostel, this is a small, quaint room with a relaxed feel — cosy rather than roomy, so a pram may be a squeeze at busy times, but there's outdoor seating and plenty of free parking right there, and old tractors on display outside that will keep small people occupied while you wait. Food is made to order and comes out fast, which matters when someone's melting down. The fish and chips is the thing people rave about, alongside juicy burgers, homemade soup, a haggis and cheese toastie and very good cake. Staff are friendly and unhurried with families, and there's a kids' menu and high chairs. Two honest snags: you order at the counter rather than at the table, and burgers around £17–19 feel steep for what arrives.
