Tucked into the Antrim countryside outside Glenoe, this one's worth the drive rather than heading into Belfast — and you walk in through a farm shop stacked with local produce and crafts, which buys you a few minutes of distraction before anyone sits down. Inside it's rustic and genuinely welcoming, with high chairs, a kids' menu, buggy access and free parking outside. Breakfast is the star: pancakes with sausage, bacon and egg, big frys, banana bread French toast. Later on it's steak and Guinness pie, smash burgers, apple crumble. Staff are warm and accommodating — one family arriving on the off-chance were happily reseated by the window. Portions and quality punch above the price. Do book, though: it's busy at almost any hour, and food can take a while at peak times.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
