Tucked into a Hanham parade with shops either side, this is a small room that has clearly been thought through from a parent's point of view — open-ended toys that toddlers rediscover each visit, a play kitchen, books and magnets, and floor space where a baby can go under a play mat while an older sibling gets on with it. Buggy access, high chairs and free parking take the sting out of arriving, and the toilet is stocked with the wipes and bits you forgot. Coffee comes in spill-proof cups, the cakes are reasonably priced and genuinely good, and the staff engage with the children rather than tolerating them. Play is donation-based at the counter. It gets busy in school holidays and space is tight, but sessions are capped so it never feels crammed — one parent calls it "home from home".

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
