Something between a café, a curiosity shop and a full-blown afternoon out — children arrive to a witch model and themed parking spaces and are already delighted before they've sat down. The rooms are decorated within an inch of their lives (bats, pumpkins, cauldrons, hidden faeries to spot), and there's a shop of curios worth a browse. Food comes plentiful and beautifully presented, with themed cakes, cream teas and drinks like unicorn tears and vegan butterbeer; vegan, vegetarian, coeliac and meat-eating groups all get looked after without fuss. High chairs, a kids' menu, outdoor seating and free parking help. It's an experience rather than a quick coffee, so book, allow a couple of hours, and expect to spend accordingly — the tea-making and potion-making bits are the parts children talk about afterwards. Table space gets tight when activities are laid out.
