Zebra Coffee Company
A budget-friendly Edinburgh coffee shop with outdoor seating — an easy, relaxed stop with little ones in tow.

Tucked just off the Royal Mile in Lady Stairs Close, this is a proper hideaway — massive original stone walls, arched ceilings and warm yellow light, with a fireplace corner that's a godsend on a wet Edinburgh afternoon. There's enough space to get a pram in (families with babies have asked ahead and been made welcome), plus high chairs, a kids' menu and vegan options, and outdoor tables for when small people need to be loud. Food comes out fast and friendly: pillowy fresh paninis, pizza cones, warm turkey sandwiches, berry smoothies and pastries people rave about, alongside genuinely excellent coffee and homemade ice cream. Dogs are welcome too. Worth knowing: the decor is a bit kitsch, the loo is oddly laid out, and being this close to the Royal Mile it gets busy.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
