Zebra Coffee Company
A budget-friendly Edinburgh coffee shop with outdoor seating — an easy, relaxed stop with little ones in tow.

Pub · Edinburgh

A traditional Royal Mile pub with a proper pub floor downstairs and the dining room upstairs, so families tend to head straight up — buggy access, high chairs and a kids' menu are all sorted, though note that if children under 18 are sitting in the bar area someone in the party needs to order food. It gets genuinely packed, with queues for tables and waits of around half an hour at busy times, and service can drift once you've eaten, so it suits a leisurely lunch more than a hungry-toddler emergency. Arriving near opening or just before noon is the trick. The steak and ale pie, bangers and mash, haggis and crisp fish and chips all draw praise, and the sticky toffee pudding has a following. Prices aren't cheap, but the staff stay friendly even at full tilt, and the carved ceiling keeps small heads busy.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
