Pub · Birmingham
Don't judge this one from the pavement — inside it's a proper old-fashioned Birmingham local, cosy and warmer than it looks, with a kids' menu, high chairs and outdoor seating when the weather plays along. Portions are genuinely generous and prices are reasonable, which helps when you're feeding everyone: the steak and ale pie with mash gets named again and again, and it arrives swimming in gravy. Service is friendly and quick, and there's a resident pub cat who's usually a bigger draw than any menu. Worth knowing: it's a real ale pub at heart, so it fills up with drinkers pre-match and on folk nights, and it can get lively — lunchtimes and early evenings are calmer with children. Free parking is listed, though street meters nearby are the usual fallback.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
