A Sunday roast here can go either way, so it's worth knowing what you're walking into. Plenty of families have had a genuinely lovely time — massive Yorkshire puddings, a well-cooked cod loin, lamb shank, and puddings like sticky toffee and fruit crumble that get finished. Others have found the roast potatoes burnt and the pies dry, and at £16 for a burger it isn't cheap for what arrives. Service swings too: warm and attentive one visit, oddly brusque the next. On the family side it's practical — a kids' menu, high chairs, buggy access through the door and free parking, which takes the stress out of arriving.
