Birley Moor Garden Centre
A well-rated Sheffield garden centre that makes for an easy, relaxed family mooch among the plants.

Pub · Sheffield
A big pub on the edge of Sheffield with a huge car park, proper grounds and a beer garden that surprises people — there's even an outdoor screen, which buys you ten minutes of peace while the food comes. Inside it's roomy enough to park a buggy without apologising, and there are high chairs and a kids' menu, so nobody's improvising from the adult side. Food is cheap and mostly hits: the burgers get real praise, the hunter's chicken has a following (though the chicken breasts run small), and the fudge cake is worth ordering. Sunday lunchtime service can be quick — one family had mains landing minutes after starters. The snag: it's busy, and getting served at the bar can take a while when it fills up. Book a table at peak times and ring ahead if you want a booth.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
