The rooms are beautiful and thoughtfully laid out rather than cramped, with buggy access and a step-free route in via the side entrance if you're pushing a pram (the lower door has steps, so come round). Staff are warm and unfussy, patient with wandering children and dogs alike. Gluten-free haddock and chips gets particular praise, and the mussels and scotch eggs are worth ordering. It's a kids' menu, high chairs, vegan options and free parking — but ££££ pricing and a small pudding list mean it's a treat lunch rather than a weekly one. Book ahead.
