Cary Arms & Spa
A beachfront Torquay inn with seaside-chic rooms and a buzzy gastropub, right by the water for a relaxed family stay.

Cafés · Torquay
Right on the seafront at Babbacombe, this little café trades on a view that does a lot of the heavy lifting — flat concreted seating out front means a pram parks easily and children can be noisy without anyone minding. The owners have revolutionised the place since taking over, and the warmth shows: kids handed wet wipes with their ice creams, a basket of blankets for chilly days, possessions minded while you swim. Cake is the thing people come back for — Biscoff slice, cherry and peanut butter — alongside properly made coffee, elderflower drinks and rosemary fries that lift it above the usual beach menu. Gluten-free brioche rolls and vegan options are available, and the dog gets a treat too. High chairs and a kids' menu are on hand. Seasonal opening, so check before you set off.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
