Tucked at the bottom of a very steep road down to Babbacombe beach, this feels more Mediterranean cove than English seaside — and the views from the outdoor tables are the reason to come. Buggy access works, though the walk down is the tricky part; families often park up top and take the cliff railway, then stroll the coast path. High chairs and a kids' menu are on hand, table service outside is attentive, and the staff will happily work around fussy eaters — one family with no main to suit them had a dish made from scratch. The crab sandwich and the sharing platter get the most praise. It's not cheap, the lunch menu leans heavily on seafood, and the kitchen can be uneven, so stick to the simpler plates.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
