About The Auld Hundred

Reserve a table if you possibly can — this Edinburgh pub fills up fast, and plenty of hopeful walk-ins get turned away at the door, though waiting half an hour over a drink downstairs is no hardship if the children can manage it. It's a warm, cosy space serving proper Scottish food, and the kitchen will do smaller portions for under-fives, which is a genuine lifesaver mid-holiday. The haggis, neeps and tatties gets the loudest praise, alongside the fish and chips, steak pie and a sticky toffee pudding worth ordering. Portions are generous, staff are friendly and careful — notably good about allergies and checking with the kitchen. There are high chairs, a kids' menu, vegan options and outdoor seating. Bar seating isn't the comfiest, and whisky measures feel pricey, but service is warm and dogs get treats too.
