Tucked just off Rose Street in the New Town, this is a casual seafood bistro rather than anything sophisticated — simple, busy, and all the better for it when you've got children in tow. Buggy access, high chairs and outdoor seating are all sorted, and food tends to arrive fast, which matters when someone's patience is thinning. Mussels are the draw, sold in half-kilo pots with sauces to argue over: white wine and cream, mature cheddar, smoked apple cheese, chilli-and-coriander Moroccan. Order bread to mop up. The seafood platter and soft-shell crab get particular praise, and the staff are consistently described as friendly and quick with recommendations. Two honest caveats: the kids' menu is very limited, and mussel quality can wobble on an off day. Worth booking at busy times.
