Food is genuinely good rather than flawless: the steak and ale pie draws praise for its gravy and generous portion, the chips get called "a big fat tasty 10/10", and the burgers come fast. Pricier mains have disappointed some, so the pub classics are the safer order. Staff stay friendly even when it's rammed, and they'll happily bring out a dessert with a birthday candle in it. Food can take 40 minutes at busy times, and booking is advisable.
