A former golf bar given a proper second life, this Tithebarn Street spot now works well for a daytime family stop — roomy enough that a pram isn't a problem, quiet at lunchtime, and with enough seating that you're not squeezed between tables. The interior is fresh and spotlessly clean, staff are attentive and unhurried, and there's a kids' menu, high chairs and a few outdoor tables. The peppercorn beef burger gets particular praise, the coffee and hot chocolate are properly made, and the warmed Jammie Dodger blondie is a good bribe for small people. There's a nice touch of the bill arriving tucked in a children's book. Worth knowing: the bottomless brunch draws mixed reports, and things can feel stretched when a private event is booked in — a weekday visit is the calmer bet.
