Across from the Theatre Royal in the city centre, this is an easy stop after a matinee or a panto — American-style diner feel, plenty of space between tables, and room to park a pram without apologising to anyone. There's gelato in a long list of flavours, plus waffles, crepes, warm cookie dough pots, shakes and sundaes, and they don't skimp on toppings; the banana and toffee crepe and the waffles get the most love. Staff have been known to hand small children sorbet samples to try, which buys a lot of goodwill. High chairs and a kids' menu are here, and there's a student discount for older ones. Be warned: on busy Saturday evenings it can run short-staffed and desserts take a while, and at around £10 a waffle, one parent felt the portions had to earn it.
