Down a flight of stairs off the street, this is a small, intimate room — red velvet seating, roses, soft lighting — and the size cuts both ways: a table of nine fitted comfortably and could all hear each other, but one visitor found it genuinely cramped and wished they'd pull a table or two. Worth booking, and worth asking for a bit of space around a pram. Staff are attentive without hovering, and everything's spotless, toilets included. The pasta and lasagne come served in a garlic bread dough bowl — enormous, and no side dishes needed. Big prawns in a creamy white sauce, pizzas, carbonara, panna cotta with tart berries. There's a kids' menu, high chairs and vegan options. Bread and olives arrive while you wait, which buys you ten minutes with a hungry child. Street parking is plentiful and free after 6pm; before that it's steep.
