Seafood · Plymouth
Right by the aquarium on the Barbican, this is the sort of place you can land after a morning of fish tanks without anyone melting down — food arrives quickly even when it's busy, and the staff are the checking-in kind, topping up water without being asked. Kids eat free on some deals, and the chips are refillable, which buys you a lot of goodwill with a hungry six-year-old. The haddock and chips gets the most praise: thick, flaky fish in a light batter, with a homemade tartar sauce worth the extra. Big windows over the harbour, high chairs, a kids' menu and outdoor seating, plus room to get a pram in. It isn't the cheapest fish supper in Plymouth, and one parent felt £19.99 warranted a bigger piece — but most think it's worth the extra. Harbour car park is about six minutes' walk.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
