Gastropub · Edinburgh
A cosy Edinburgh pub with an old-diner charm, comfy window seats and background music that keeps things relaxed rather than raucous — easy enough with a pram, and there's a kids' menu and high chairs when you need them. Portions are generous and the cooking is genuinely good: the classic beef burger on a sesame bun gets the loudest praise (the chips too), along with steak pie and mash, chicken and waffles at brunch, and a proper Scottish breakfast with haggis if anyone's feeling brave. Vegan options are on the menu. The staff are warm and attentive, and one family remembers them going well beyond kindness when a relative took ill. Dogs are welcome too, with their own menu. It's a busy central spot, so expect it to fill up around show times at the Usher Hall.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
