A proper old village pub at ££ prices, and one that hides its size well — it looks small from the street, then opens out inside with plenty of tables, so a pram isn't a problem and there's free parking (you'll need to tap your registration into the tablet by the bar). High chairs are there, the children's menu has a decent spread of options, and the staff tend to be quick and friendly, checking on allergies when you order. The mixed grill gets the most praise — generous, with good sausages and gammon and a surprisingly fresh salad — and the Sunday roast has its fans, though the potatoes and veg can be hit and miss. Weekends and Sunday lunchtimes get busy and noisy with a chatty regular crowd. Outdoor seating helps when little ones need air.
