A proper village pub on the edge of Hethersett that's far bigger inside than the frontage suggests, which is the main thing to know if you're arriving with a pram and a toddler who won't sit still. There's a wide menu with genuinely good vegetarian and vegan choices, specials that rotate, and a Sunday carvery locals turn up for week after week. Portions are big and food comes out hot; the chain-ish feel doesn't seem to bother anyone much. Gardens are lovely in summer and there's free parking, high chairs and a kids' menu. Staff are the real draw — quick, kind, and unfazed when a child is sick at the table. Book ahead for anything over about six. The pies can be hit and miss at nearly £19, so the carvery is the safer order.
