Once a British Legion club, this big Nottingham pub has kept the memorabilia on the walls and the roominess that comes with it — there's usually space to park a buggy without blocking anyone, and finding a table is easier here than in most local pubs. Free parking out front takes one worry off the drive. Food comes out hot and, when tables order together, all at once, which matters when someone's melting down. The street corn soup has a following, and the sticky toffee pudding gets singled out. Kids' menu, high chairs and outdoor seating are all sorted. Two honest notes: book if you're eating, especially weekends or bank holidays, as tables go fast even midweek; and the function room upstairs has no lift. One parent found the staff "very patient" with an unhurried order.
