A late-night table in Kemptown that works surprisingly well with children in tow — poppadoms and dips land almost as soon as you sit down, which buys you a good ten minutes before anyone starts unravelling. Mains follow quickly too. The lamb is the thing to order: rogan josh that falls apart, a balti that arrives sizzling, both in rich sauces worth mopping up with the naan, which is thin, crisp underneath and buttery. The onion bhajis have a real reputation. There's a kids' menu, high chairs, vegan dishes and free parking, and it's halal. The room is cosy and warm rather than roomy, so a big pram may be awkward at busy times — worth booking or going earlier with little ones. One parent calls the welcome "warm" from the moment you walk in.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
