Union of Genius
A relaxed Edinburgh cafe serving daily soups, breakfast, and coffee, with outdoor seating and vegan options for the whole family.

Scottish · Edinburgh
A proper Scottish comfort-food stop in the middle of Edinburgh, and easy enough with children: there are high chairs, a kids' menu, and room to get a buggy in. The mood is somewhere between an American diner and a friend's dining room — chatty, a bit silly, and the staff clearly enjoy a laugh with children rather than tolerating them. Food comes out fast even when it's full, and nobody rushes you off the table once you're done. Big plates for the price: steak pie and chips, sausage and mash with black pudding and apple through it, beef stew with dumplings, a generous Scottish breakfast. Good vegan options too, and they take allergies seriously. It gets busy at peak times, so ring ahead if there are three or more of you.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
