Tucked behind what looks like a small shop front, the real restaurant is upstairs — huge, full of cosy booths, and reached by a lift, which makes it genuinely doable with a buggy. There's a kids' menu and high chairs, and the staff are patient and quick to check things they're unsure of, including gluten-free and dairy-free options. Food arrives fast even when it's busy, which matters when a toddler has run out of patience; one visitor was fed haddock, chips and a pot of tea in under 25 minutes before a train. Portions of fish are generous and the lunchtime special around £14 is good value, though the largest haddock climbs to £18.50. The toilets are spotless. It fills up with locals and tourists alike, so expect a lively room at peak times.
