Bottega Montalbano Cafe & Ice Cream Parlour
Cosy Italian café behind the restaurant, with proper Vergnano coffee, homemade cakes and gelato children adore — outdoor tables are the roomier option.

Restaurants · Tenterden
Tucked along Tenterden high street and easy to walk straight past, this is a proper Italian kitchen that happens to be very good with children — a kids' menu, high chairs, outdoor seating and free parking round the back (free after 6pm, otherwise pay-by-app, plus a little street parking). Food comes out fast, which matters when someone's patience is running short, and the pace never feels rushed or forgotten. The risotto gambaretti gets rapturous mentions, desserts are generously sized, and the lemon dome has won people over. What families notice most is the staff: attentive, genuinely warm, and known to turn a birthday into a small production with candles and a guitar. Two snags — portions can be modest for the price, and lunchtimes get busy, so book. Access is up a few steps, though there's a step-free side door.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
