Tucked in the middle of Bessbrook, this is a small café with a lot of windows and a garden that does the heavy lifting on a decent day — covered outdoor seating, room to park a pram, and an ice cream truck turning up in summer. Inside is compact, so the garden is the better bet with a buggy; it can feel chilly by all that glass. The food is the draw: the french toast stack gets named again and again, the chips get raved about, and the chicken and mash special and soup do the job for a proper lunch. There are lighter plates too, which suits smaller appetites. Staff are warm and quick with a bit of craic, there are high chairs and a kids' menu, and parking is free. One parent found it "busy but still calm and tranquil" — though take cash, as the card machine has let people down.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
