Coffee Shops · Chester
Set inside a big barn on a working farm at the end of the Greenway cycle route, with a log burner going in the middle of the room and plenty of space between the metal tables — easy enough to park a pram without apologising to anyone. There's a kids' menu, high chairs and free parking, plus a few sit-on toy trucks that buy you ten minutes of peace. Food is proper: the cooked breakfast and bacon rolls get the loudest praise, alongside soup, paninis, cakes and ice cream, and it comes out fast. Seating outside as well, which helps — the fried-food smell indoors puts some people off, and it's a farm, so expect farm smells too. Slightly pricey for a café, and it's a magnet for cyclists and dog walkers at weekends.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
