Cafés · Stowmarket
Tucked down a fully paved side street by the cathedral, this is the kind of small-town café that stays busy for good reason — and with plenty of car parks nearby, you're not circling with a car full of children. There's an upstairs room where you can spread out and actually finish a conversation, plus outside seating that works for prams and dogs. The staff are cheerful and quick, happy to flex the menu if a child only wants scrambled eggs, and service moves fast. The full English is the thing to order, all home-cooked, and portions are generous for the price — one family of four ate lunch with hot drinks for £33. Coffee is good, and they sell their own beans. Two snags: it's often packed, and it has been cash-only on some visits.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
