Tucked a ten-minute walk from Edinburgh Castle, this little French café does galettes and crepes properly — the Parisian galette with melty cheddar, ham and a fried egg on top gets ordered twice by the same people, and the sweet crepes (pistachio and white chocolate, salted butter caramel) are worth the detour. It's roomier and smarter inside than you'd guess from the street, with high chairs, a kids' menu and a few outdoor tables for warmer days. Service is genuinely fast and the owners fuss over you in the nicest way, which helps enormously when small people are hungry. Breakfast is the calmest slot — bagels, pancakes and very good coffee. Prices lean a touch steep, though the tea-and-desserts bundle is good value, and the grey interior can feel a little cold after dark.
