Sushi Passion
A small, spotless sushi spot with a kids' menu, picture menu and halal food — pricey, but the gyoza and tempura are worth it.

Vegan · Birmingham
A three-hour tasting menu isn't every family's evening, but there's a kids' menu and high chairs here, and the pacing between small plates leaves plenty of breathing room — enough time to talk, compare notes and let a fidgety child stretch. The room is clean, calm and genuinely welcoming, and the staff are patient and happy to explain every dish and drink pairing without hovering. Everything is plant-based, though most people who come through the door aren't vegan and leave converted. The tofu in chilli sauce is the one people talk about afterwards, along with the warm, seedy milk bread with cultured butter and a dessert served in a plant pot that children find delightful. Portions are small but you leave full. It's a special-occasion place rather than a quick lunch — book ahead and expect to linger.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
