The Old Hatchet
A characterful 16th-century Windsor pub with open fires and a garden, serving modern and classic pub food that families can settle into.

Cafés · Windsor
Perched right by a fishing lake, this cosy little spot feels like eating in someone's quirky country kitchen — mismatched cups, cushions, mix-and-match crockery, and a proper view over the water and park that keeps children occupied between courses. The full English arrives overflowing the plate, the doorstep toast is fresh, and the homemade cakes are worth saving room for; portions are generous enough that little ones can share, and tea comes in a pot. Free parking, buggy access, high chairs and a kids' menu are all sorted, and there's outdoor seating for sunny days. The women who run it check back on tables and make you feel at home. Two things to know: tables are mostly four-seaters, and they take cash or bank transfer only — no cards. One parent found it "great value for money".

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
