Tucked behind Thomas Rigby's, you reach this one through a shared courtyard — which turns out to be the whole appeal with children in tow. The enclosed yard is a proper oasis off the busy street, easy to park a pram beside a table, and a spot where a restless child can wriggle without bothering anyone. Inside is open-plan with exposed beams and old black-and-white ceilings, plenty of seating, and it's kept notably clean. There's a kids' menu, high chairs and a genuinely friendly bar team. Pizza and chips get singled out (the chips especially), and the pies are good. Two honest snags: the toilets are downstairs, so no easy changing spot, and the courtyard fills up on summer weekends. Weekday afternoons are quiet enough that one family found themselves the only ones in.
