Italian · York
A timber-framed building in the middle of York, family-owned and run by people who seem genuinely pleased to see children walk in. It's a proper sit-down Italian rather than a rush-through, but food arrives fast — one group of nine had every plate land together — which matters when a toddler has hit the wall. The pizzas are the thing to order, fresh and properly authentic, with rosemary potatoes on the side; the lamb cutlets and sea bass get just as much love. There's a kids' menu, high chairs, a full vegan menu, and a few outdoor tables. Prices are fair for the portions. The atmosphere stays calm and warm even when it's busy, and the toilets are kept clean. Saturday nights fill up, so book if you can — though walk-ins are often welcomed with a smile.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
