About Khai Khai (খাই খাই) Indian Restaurant Newcastle Upon Tyne

A grand, freshly renovated dining room near the station that turns out to be genuinely easy with children — high chairs, a kids' menu, room to get a pram through, and a handful of outdoor tables. The smoked tandoori broccoli has a following all of its own, and the lamb chops, butter chicken with cardamom running through it, dal makhani and paneer lababdar all arrive rich and properly spiced; there are vegan, halal and gluten-free options, and the mango and mint lassi goes down well with little ones. The team are patient and happy to walk you through the menu. Two honest snags: it gets very loud on a busy evening, and tables are held for two hours, so book early — or come at lunch, which one parent found far calmer. Around £50 for three courses.
