A Shawlands spot for hearty Nepalese and Indian cooking, and one that's set up for families — kids' menu, high chairs, buggy access and free parking outside, which takes the stress out of the arrival. Portions are big and the food comes out fast, often within minutes, which matters when someone's past the point of waiting. The curries get the loudest praise, along with mixed pakora in crisp batter, fish pakora, momos and the Indo-Chinese dishes; ask for desi-level spice if you want the real thing. Dishes are noticeably less oily than most, and the prices are gentle — the set-menu lunch is particularly good value. The staff are warm and attentive, and one family described the service they saw for a wheelchair user as top shelf. The one snag: it's a small room, so it fills up.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
