An unassuming exterior on the outside, but inside it's much bigger than most people expect — the place has been expanded over the years and there's genuinely room to park a pram without apologising to anyone. That space matters when you've got children: it's roomy rather than cramped, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the staff have a reputation for being warm and attentive even when you turn up late or last-minute. Food arrives quickly and hot, which helps enormously when someone's hungry and losing patience. The pizza, mussels and carbonara tagliatelle draw the most praise, portions are big, and prices are reasonable — there's a proper kids' menu, high chairs, outdoor seating and free parking. The midweek pre-theatre menu is particularly good value. Worth noting the odd off night gets mentioned, mostly on takeaway and delivery orders, so eat in if you can.
