About Green Wolf Cafe

Tucked down a small drive in the countryside near Bury St Edmunds, this one sits beside a lake with mature trees and grounds where children can actually run about — a rare thing at lunchtime. There's plenty of space inside and out, high chairs, buggy access and free parking, so arriving with a pram isn't a battle. The cakes are the draw: Bakewell tart, coffee cake, blueberry muffins, rhubarb crumble cake, with plenty of gluten-free and vegan choices alongside a proper kids' menu. The staff are warm and unhurried, and dogs are welcome too. Local pottery, willow work and paintings line the walls, which buys you a few minutes of distraction. Not everything lands — the toasties draw the odd grumble — and it's remote enough that you'll want to plan the trip. One parent sums it up: "everything about it shouts tranquility."
