Sunday lunchtime, people have walked in without booking and still found a table. Food comes out quickly, which matters mid-meltdown, and the staff chat rather than hover. The crayfish baguette and jacket potatoes get named again and again, the full English is done properly, and the cake counter is almost a problem — hummingbird, rhubarb and custard, courgette and lime.
