MR THOMAS'S CHOP HOUSE
Handsome old-fashioned Manchester chop house with huge fish and chips, high chairs and a kids' menu — narrow inside, so book ahead.

Pizza · Manchester
Sourdough pizza in the middle of King Street, and the sort of place that works with children in tow because the tables aren't jammed together and there's outdoor seating when you'd rather not squeeze a pram inside. High chairs, a kids' menu and buggy access are all sorted, and the staff have a reputation for bending a bit — finding a corner table, sorting seating for people who only wanted a drink. The bases get the loudest praise: light and crisp, never doughy, and the gluten-free version is genuinely good rather than a grudging substitute. Cinque Formaggi, the bruschetta and the big garlic dips (one between you is plenty) come up again and again, as do generous salads. Three pizzas and three beers came to just over £56, though one parent notes there are cheaper pizzas in Manchester.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
