Big, messy burgers in a room that isn't fighting you — the dining area is roomy with plenty of seating, so a pram isn't a problem and you're not squeezed against the next table. It stays fairly quiet and cosy for a burger place, and the staff are warm and quick, greeting people at the door and getting food out fast, which matters when someone's patience is running out. They're careful about allergies too, checking with the kitchen rather than guessing. Order the waffle fries; the hand-cut chips and the seasoned regular fries both get plenty of praise, and the sandos and fried Mars bar are worth the detour. Two snags: book ahead — walk-ins have been quoted a 45-minute wait — and the toilets are down a small flight of stairs, so no changing facilities at table level.
