About Dhamaka Restaurant

Bristol curry that's genuinely worth a fuss — big on flavour and generous with it, so there's usually enough on the table for a child to graze off. There's a kids' menu and high chairs, plus proper vegan options, and the staff have a reputation for patience with a table full of questions. The korma gets singled out again and again as the opposite of bland, and the chicken bhuna, lamb vindaloo and Hyderabadi biryani all draw praise; the bottomless chicken thali runs midday to late afternoon, Wednesday to Sunday, and is excellent value — though be warned children can't share one, so you'll need to order separately. Food arrives fast, which matters when someone's flagging. Come before six for the early bird prices. Saturday evenings get properly buzzy, and one visitor found the biryani dry, so it's not flawless.
