Right on Central Station's doorstep, this is a proper old Glasgow bar — small, traditional, and unpretentious, with an unspoiled interior and a kids' menu, high chairs and buggy access. It's a genuinely tight room, so a pram takes a bit of manoeuvring, and the toilets are down a flight of stairs, which is worth knowing before you settle in with little ones. Come on a weekday and it's calm and spotlessly clean; weekends bring karaoke, live singers and a busy over-30s crowd, and prices creep up. Otherwise it's good value for the city centre, with a well-poured Guinness around £4.50 and a decent spread of spirits and wine. Service is quick — no hanging about to get served — and the staff are warm and chatty. There's outdoor seating too, and dogs are welcome. Regulars come for the "good patter".
