Roomy Glasgow dining room with family-friendly booths, huge portions, a strong vegan menu and a good-value midweek two-course deal.

Set inside Newlands Park, this is the kind of stop that turns a morning walk into a proper break — pram-friendly paths right to the door, free parking on the street outside, high chairs and a kids' menu once you're in. It's small and often busy: expect to wait ten minutes or so for an inside table at lunchtime, though the staff are upfront about it and food comes out faster than you'd fear. The baked croissant with scrambled eggs, the specials board and the Empire biscuits get the loudest praise, and there's a summer ice cream queue that children happily join. Plenty of outdoor seating (takeaway menu only out there, and dogs stay outside). Portions can run small for the price, but families come back weekly for the soup, cakes and unfailingly kind service.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
