A proper little village café in Rottingdean where one person often seems to be running the whole show — and somehow still manages a big group without missing a beat. Inside is cosy rather than roomy, with sofas at the back to sink into and a few tables outside if you'd rather park the pram beside you; buggy access, high chairs and a kids' menu are all sorted. Portions are generous and prices genuinely fair — filled baguettes under £7, loaded fries, pizza and gyros in the evening, plus vegan choices and home-made cakes (the apple crumble has a following). The hot chocolate with marshmallows is the sort children remember. Staff are warm and flexible about gluten-free requests. One snag: evening opening can be unreliable, so ring ahead rather than turning up hungry.
