Chinese · Cardiff
A little Chinese place on City Road that regulars reckon Cardiff is sleeping on, and families have started making the trip from Swansea and further for it. It's comfortable and homely rather than slick, with high chairs, room to get a pram in, and free parking nearby, which takes the edge off the whole outing. The staff talk you through the menu properly and are generous with recommendations, so fussier children are looked after too — one family's daughter who only eats plain food happily worked through fried chicken and noodles. Portions are large and prices fair, with the beef brisket soup, eggplant and mince, beef ho fan and steamed butterfish all singled out. Everything is halal, and there's a kids' menu. One snag worth knowing: it's cash only, so stop at a machine first.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
