Pub · Nottingham
Tucked opposite the Justice Museum, this is a proper labyrinth of a pub — cosy corners, quirky pictures, a downstairs seating area, and a walled garden and terrace with an almost European feel, which is where you'll want to be with a buggy on a warm day. There's a kids' menu, high chairs and space outside for children to be children. Sunday lunch is around £15 and the food punches above pub standard: gorgeous sandwiches, cod fillet, pizzas with proper dough, and scones one visitor called "crisp on the outside, fluffy inside". Staff get consistent praise for being helpful and unhurried. Worth knowing: it's snug inside and can get warm, the loos are limited, and roasts have occasionally arrived more done than ordered. Handy for the caves and museum if you're making a day of it.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
