A big, buzzy Chinese place in the middle of Bristol where the welcome does a lot of the work — the owner is a real character, and families get the same warm greeting as everyone else. There's a kids' menu, high chairs and plenty of vegan and vegetarian dishes, though the menu's veggie labelling is muddled enough that it's worth asking rather than trusting the tags. Portions are generous: the set meal for two feeds you properly, and the ginger braised duck and beef brisket in chilli come up again and again as the things to order. Two honest warnings — service can be stretched thin at busy times, with waits of 45 minutes or more when they're short-staffed, and it can get genuinely chilly inside, so keep the coats handy.
