Big Turkish-Arabic grill on City Road that copes well with a family in tow — buggy access, high chairs and a kids' menu, plus free parking, which saves the usual circling. Portions are enormous and prices sit comfortably at the middle of the range, so a shared platter (chicken and lamb shish, koftas, wings, ribs, rice and three kinds of chips, with bread and sauces to start) feeds a table generously. The mandi, mixed shish and chicken shawarma with rice all get named repeatedly, and the mango-yogurt smoothie goes down well with children. Staff stay attentive even when it's heaving, and complimentary soup or tea often arrives at the end. Two honest notes: it gets lively and loud at busy times, and it can turn hot and humid inside, though fans are dotted about. No alcohol served.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
